Ranchi: Police have arrested a private tutor, identified as Sanjiv Kumar Yadav, for allegedly raping a minor girl aged 13 several times in 2019. The accused was sent to jail on Sunday.
Even though the incident took place in March and April of 2019, the girl had registered a case with the police on Saturday under Section 376 (3) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 4 of the Pocso Act. The officer-in-charge of the police station where the case is registered said, “The girl was not mentally alert enough until now to realize that a crime has been committed against her. This led to the delay in the registration of the FIR.”
The officer also said during the preliminary investigation, they found the involvement of the accused in the crime and nabbed him on the same day. He, however, refused to reveal the evidence. TNN
