Chatra: Chatra superintendent of police (SP) Rakesh Ranjan formed a team that nabbed two members of an interstate arms supplier gang on the charges of supplying arms to a CPI(Maoist) breakway faction — Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), police said on Tuesday.
The duo were identified as Ajmeri Khan and Satyendra Kumar. Ajmera is a resident of Jolbigaha village under Pratappur block in Chatra. Satyendra is a native of Gaya in Bihar.
Simaria subdivisonal police officer Ashok Priyadarshi, who led the team, said, “The SP got a tip-off, based on which the team raided the house of Ajmeri in Jolbigaha on Monday afternoon and nabbed the two. They admitted during interrogation that they work for the Lalu Khan gang that is active in Bihar and Jharkhand. Police dug the land on banks of Morhar river in Pratappur to recover a country-made carbine and three bullets. Three mobiles were also found.”
The duo were attempting to supply the carbine to the TSPC. “We are trying to nab others,” he added.
Several cases were pending against the duo in Pratappur and Dhobhi police stations. TNN
