Ranchi: The state unit of RJD plans to start the second phase of its membership drive after Navratri to strengthen the party’s base at the panchayat level, said party state in-charge and ex-Union minister Jaiprakash Narayan Yadav on Monday.
While attending the first meeting of the newly formed state executive committee, Yadav said RJD has added around four lakh members in the first phase of its membership drive. “The new office bearers should hold meetings from the panchayat to the state levels to strengthen the party in the second phase. They should enroll the students studying in universities and colleges. They should also spread RJD’s principles through social media,” he added.
Party working president Tejaswi Yadav would participate in a public rally in Koderma in April. Party in-charge of all state assemblies would be appointed soon. The party aims to win more seats from the state in the next elections, Yadav added.
He said BJP was misusing the central probe agencies to harass RJD supremo Lalu Prasad and his family, while adding, “The opposition should unite to throw the BJP-led alliance out of power in the 2024 general elections.” RJD state president Sanjay Singh Yadav said the office bearers who abstain themselves from party meeting thrice should automatically consider themselves relieved of the post.
