RANCHI: Chief Justice (CJ) of Jharkhand high court Ravi Ranjan directed a secretary ranked officer to ensure speedy relief to a Bihar-based man seeking pension during a National Lok Adalat (NLA).
The Jharkhand High Court Legal Service Committee (JHCLSC) held an NLA on Saturday, during which it disposed of 119 disputes. Five benches under Justice S N Prasad, Justice S N Pathak, Dr Rajesh Kumar, Justice K P Deo and Justice S K Dwivedi, were formed to take up the cases.
While inspecting the NLA at the high court premises, the CJ came to know about the elderly man who had come for the settlement of his pension dispute with the state government. The process was hindered in the absence of a competent authority from the department who could take a decision on the matter, a JHCLSC official said.
The CJ called the secretary concerned and asked him to take a quick decision. “Now, justice should be delivered at the man’s doorstep.”
The secretary assured the CJ that the matter would be disposed of.
