Ranchi: One person died and two others were injured when a CRPF bus collided with a couple of two-wheelers in Beyangdih under Namkum police station area on Saturday. The deceased was identified as Chandra Tirkey (50). He died during the course of his treatment. The two injured, who are CRPF jawans, have been admitted in a local hospital. An FIR has been registered and police have initiated action on the matter.
The drivers of the scooty and the bike were campaigning for a candidate of the ongoing panchayat polls when the accident took place. DSP Neeraj Kumar said that the bus, (which was carrying jawans of the Cobra battalion from Khunti to Chaibasa) hit the two-wheelers when they suddenly came in front of the vehicle. Following the accident, locals blocked the road to protest the killing. Local MLA Rajesh Kachhap and the officer-in-charge of the local police station had to intervene to pacify the crowd.
