Ranchi: The RJD’s Jharkhand unit has decided to burn the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday to protest the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raids against the party chief Lalu Prasad and his relatives in different cities, including Patna and Delhi, on Friday.
The party said it would burn the effigies at the district headquarters across Jharkhand for which all functionaries concerned of the party have been intimated. The state RJD working president, Sanjay Singh Yadav, said the Centre is using the CBI and the enforcement directorate (ED) to humiliate and harass RJD leaders and stressed that the party workers would not tolerate it.
He added, “The party workers will not bow down to pressure tactics and instead take to the streets to give a befitting reply to BJP.”
Notably, CBI on Friday raided 17 places, including in Bihar and Delhi, against Lalu and his relatives in connection with the “land for railway job” scam. The scam allegedly took place when Lalu was the railway minister under the UPA-1 government.
