Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) has begun a drive against violators of building plan in the area. In the last three days, more than a dozen buildings have been sealed in the Steel City, mostly built in Tata Steel-command areas.
Special officer Krishna Kumar has been seen visiting various construction sites to assess the status.
As per rule, only three-storied buildings can be constructed in the Tata Steel-subleased area, but most builders violate this rule and construct additional two to three floors without civic body’s permission. Same violation is reported from Sakchi, Sidhgora, Kadma, Bistupur and other areas. The parking space in the basement of the buildings are many times sold and used for commercial purposes which is also not permissible.
JNAC officials accompanied by police force also sealed an under-construction nursing home in Golmuri area owned by one Ankit Agarwal. According to JNAC officials, the owner had permission to construct only two floors but another two were being constructed above it. The staircase was narrow and fire safety measures were also not followed.
At a high-level meeting on Tuesday chaired by East Singhbhum DC Vijaya Jadhav, clear instructions were given to JNAC, Mango and Jugsalai civic body heads that strict action must be taken against those builders who are openly violating rules and minting money through illegal constructions across the city. A 13-member team was formed and directed to file fortnightly report on action taken against errant realtors.
