Ranchi: Jharkhand DGP Neeraj Sinha asked the SPs and the police personnel to curb illegal mining under their jurisdiction, adding that the officers would be held responsible for such incidents.
In a review meeting held on law and order on Friday, the DGP said, “The unlawful mining of coal, sand, and stones must stop. If the police headquarter receives report regarding such activities and find it true upon verification, the officer-in-charge of the police station concerned and other officers would face strict action.”
The DGP’s directives come at a time when the Enforcement Directorate is investigating the works of mining department and money laundering.
The DGP also asked the officers to identify cases with sufficient evidence against notorious criminals and take speedy action on a priority basis against them. “Police should coordinate with the jail administration to ensure strict control over the activities of criminals lodged inside the jails,” he said.
