Ranchi: Chief minister Hemant Soren and governor Ramesh Bais on Thursday paid tribute to CRPF constable Chitranjan Kumar who died on Wednesday after suffering injuries during an anti-Maoist operation in Chatra on Sunday.
Kumar had sustained injuries on his leg and abdomen. After an initial treatment in Chatra, he was airlifted to Ranchi and admitted at a private hospital. Hospital sources said that he was put on ventilator.
His mortal remains were brought to the CRPF 133rd battalion headquarters in Dhurwa where, besides top government and CRPF officials, the governor and the CM paid floral tributes.
Bais and Soren also met Kumar’s family members and offered their condolence. “The CRPF constable fought with valour during the encounter with the extremists. His death is not only a loss for his family but also for the nation. I have assured the affected family that the government will take care of their needs,” Bais said.
