Ramgarh: Ashwini Kumar Choubey, the minister of state for consumer affairs, food and public distribution and environment, forest and climate change, on Monday took a dig at the Hemant Soren government claiming that Jharkhand has turned into a corrupt state under the present dispensation. He said the Centre has started identification of corrupt officials responsible for looting the state and its resources for taking them to task.
Choubey offered prayers at the famed Chinnamastika temple in the morning.
He said, “Modi government has zero tolerance for corruption. Hence, no allegations have been raised against the Centre since it came to power in 2014. But corruption has become a permanent phenomenon in Jharkhand since 2019. The guilty will not be spared.”
“Several senior official are under the scanner and few have been sent behind bars. We are identifying corrupt ‘babus’ as the right place for them is jail,” he added.
His statements assumes importance at a time when the ED has arrested Jharkhand mining secretary (now suspended) Pooja Singhal in connection with the decade-old MGNREGA scam. ED’s probe against her has expanded to alleged murky land deals and illegal mining.
The BJP in the opposition here has been directly accusing Hemant Soren government of patronising illegal activities.
Replying to another question, Choubey said that there would be no delay in transfer of forest land for coal companies for mining activity if the state recommends on time. “We are open to sustainable mining to balance growth and development,” he said.
