Ranchi: The working model of the Ranchi district hospital for the Ayushman Bharat scheme will be replicated across the country, a central team which reviewed the hospital’s model has said.
The district hospital has been on the top as far as performance among the empanelled healthcare centres under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojna (PM-JAY), popularly known as Ayushman Bharat, is concerned.
The five-member team, which visited and reviewed the hospital on Thursday, comprised Shankar Prinja, the executive director of Ayushman Bharat, and two members each from the National Health Authority (NHA) and the State Health Authority.
Talking to TOI, Ranchi civil surgeon, Dr Vinod Kumar, said, “We are very delighted that our model will be replicated nationally. This is the result of the hard work of our doctors as well as all the staff who have worked relentlessly to serve the beneficiaries of Ayushman Bharat.”
He said, “The team visited our special newborn care units (SNCU), pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), high dependency unit (HDU) as well as daycare centres which have been constructed by utilizing funds from the scheme.”
When asked about the hospital’s new services started with Ayushman funds, Dr Kumar said, “Our consultants have started laparoscopic surgery as well as laser-assisted surgeries at the hospital. A total of over Rs 60 lakh has been utilized to purchase equipment. Our moves proved to be a boon for the poor patients covered under the scheme as well as those covered under the cashless treatment.”
On the current status of the hospital’s revenue, Dr Kumar said NHA had released Rs 7 crore in the last seven months for the services provided to the beneficiaries.
Under the Ayushman Bharat revenue model, for every Rs 100 spent, 70% goes to the hospital management for treating patients, arranging medicines and strengthening the infrastructure.
The general surgeon at the hospital, Dr Ajit Kumar, who started the laparoscopic surgery said “When more new equipment arrives, we will be able to perform urogenital surgeries for prostate, kidney stone and gall-bladder among others.”
