Jamshedpur: Bal Mela, a five-day long children’s fair was inaugurated at the Sidhgora Children’s Park on Monday. Organised by the MLA of Jamshedpur East Saryu Roy, Bal Mela is an initiative to bring city children on a single platform where they can enjoy and participate in various competitions and win prizes.
The programme was inaugurated by chief guest Bholanath Singh, national wrestling coach, in the presence of Amarendra Pratap Singh MLA from Arrah, Bihar; Roy and others.Starting from November 21, the registration will start from 9 am to 11 am followed by sports competitions till 2 pm every day.
Magic shows, fancy dress competition, cultural and mime shows shall also be organised in the fair. Programmes depicting various cultures and states of the country will also be organised at the fair every day. About 50 food and awareness have been put up at the fair.
On November 23, various dimensions of the new National Education Policy (NEP) will be explained in detail. Representatives of NCERT, National Book Trust and Prabhat Prakashan will also set up stalls in the fair and important information will be shared regarding the educational development of children. Information about child psychology, science, child rights around the world will be also provided to children and their parents.
Roy said, “The fair will be an ideal place where we promote sports and awareness on the same platform. In future, I would try to convert the place into a sports stadium for children so that they have access to more such sporting resources.”

The District Employment and Career Guidance Centre in Coimbatore will hold a job fair on December 2 as part of the Dr Kalaignar centenary celebrations. Around 250 companies from various sectors will participate, offering jobs to around 2,000 people. Participants with various educational backgrounds can attend the fair, and there is no age limit.
