Daltonganj: RPF personnel at Garhwa Road police rescued a 10-year-old boy from the coach of 03360 (Down) Varanasi-Barkakana passenger train at Daltonganj railway station on Sunday evening. Banarasi Yadav, the inspector in-charge of Garhwa Road railway station, said the boy identified himself as Rehan, the son of one Mohammad Kalim.
Yadav said the boy was rescued during the heightened vigilance activities between Garhwa Road and Barwadeeh Junction stations on account of Chhath festivities.
“Rehan said he just boarded the train at Manduadih railway station near Varanasi. This does not look like a case of child trafficking and appears that the train chugged out of the station soon after the boy boarded it,” Yadav told TOI on Monday.
“The boy failed to give any phone number of his family members and was handed over to the district child line, which in turn has been trying to get in touch with their counterparts in Varanasi to track down the boy’s family,” the inspector said.
